The World’s Shortest Brief: A Company Induction Video, But Different Please.

All Aboard with Arriva!

“Create an induction video for Arriva Buses.” That was the whole brief. We turned it into a film full of camaraderie, banter, and genuine voices from across the business.

Arriva Buses is one of the UK’s largest bus operators, running services in towns, cities, and rural areas across the country. With thousands of employees in roles ranging from drivers and engineers to schedulers and support staff, induction is an important step in welcoming new starters. But like many organisations, they wanted something that went beyond the standard “corporate video.”

The Brief

The official brief was just seven words: “Create an induction video for Arriva Buses.” It was the shortest we’d ever received via our partners at ted Learning. But instead of leaving us short of direction, it gave us freedom! Freedom to explore the business, talk to staff, and build something that felt honest and engaging.

How WIDEO.co.uk helped

We set out to capture the real voices of Arriva. Yes, the film covered corporate values and internal communications messages, but it also gave space for natural, conversational interviews. From bus drivers and engineers to staff working deep in the garage storeroom, everyone had stories to tell. By keeping things relaxed, a sense of camaraderie and banter came through on camera, and that became the heart of the film. To make it even more memorable, we tucked in a light-hearted outtake at the very end, giving new employees a smile as well as an introduction.

The Finished Video

The final induction video feels fresh, human, and genuine. It shows the breadth of Arriva’s operations while highlighting the people behind the buses. By leaning into humour and authenticity, it turned a compliance-driven necessity into something staff could actually enjoy watching.
